Implemented streaming multimedia content from Zune PC client (version 2) to XBox 360 for the Zune team (2 month contract).
Implemented digital rights management (DRM) support for mobile online music application in an unannounced Microsoft phone project (4 month contract).
Implemented podcast user-interface for a mobile online music application (6 month contract).
Wrote new C++ code, integrated existing C++ code into a new environment, integrated database functionality through SQL, and wrote managed interoperability code.
Adapted quickly and successfully to unfamiliar code bases and significant design changes during development.

Software Design Engineer/Development Lead	Microsoft Corporation

Held key software engineering positions in all phases of development on multiple shipping products involving large teams.
Shipped NetShow versions 1, 2, 3, Windows Media versions 4, 7, 8, 9, Media Foundation version 1 (the new multimedia API and system in Windows Vista).
Coding and design skills were vital to the success of all products, particularly the Windows Media Format SDK and Media Foundation. Recognized as an expert inside of Microsoft in these areas, consulting with teams across Microsoft as well as 3rd party developers.
Coding tasks included multithreaded programming, device driver development, audio and video programming, and extensive debugging and bug-fixing.
Design tasks included system design, API design, file format design, and design documentation.
Development Lead position involved managing up to 4 engineers; senior development positions involved providing leadership to larger teams in a variety of ways.

Founder & Sole Proprietor	Merry Prankster Games
1995-1999	Kirkland, WA

Founded Merry Prankster Games for the purpose of running play-by-email games on the Internet.
Designed and programmed Atlantis 2.0, and ran a free playtest with up to 500 players.
Extended the game into Atlantis 3.0, running the game as a commercial venture from 1996 to 1999 with around 200 players, generating about $10000 per year at its peak.
Responsible for all phases of business, including game design, programming, web page design, support, payment processing, and promotion.
Released the Atlantis code (version 4.0) as an open source project (http://www.prankster.com/project) in 1999.

Computer Software Engineer	Oracle Corporation

Developed software in the Desktop Unit, primarily on the Novell Netware OS.
Ported several large programs to Netware, including several versions of the Oracle Database, and also the Oracle Web Server.
Coded in a client/server environment, including sockets network programming.
